What you can expect

You will work as a hands-on backend software engineer with system-level thinking, using Java to extend functionality, lead development and refactoring, and support operations for Zoom Whiteboard, Notes, and Tasks.

About the Team

We are the Zoom Client team that builds the core backend for Whiteboard and Tasks. We value ownership, kindness, and clear communication, working in Java and the Spring ecosystem with modern CI, containers, event messaging, and cloud services. We partner tightly with Frontend, Design, Product, and SRE to deliver simple, secure, and scalable collaboration, with senior engineers shaping architecture and reliability while mentoring peers.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design, development, and deployment of microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.

• Developing scalable and secure RESTful APIs with Spring MVC and related technologies.

• Guiding performance tuning, monitoring, and observability of Spring-based services.

• Collaborating with product and design to build core features that satisfy security, privacy, and business requirements.

• Working with operations teams to keep applications and services highly available and reliable.

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years of experience and a BS in Computer Science or related field.

• 5 + years building backend systems in Java with significant Spring Boot experience.

• Demonstrate expertise in Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, and REST API design.

• Design and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Apply CI/CD practices, containerization, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum:

$146.700,00

Maximum:

$339.300,00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
