About the Product Legal Team

The Product Legal team plays an indispensable role in advancing Zoom’s mission by navigating foundational legal issues and achieving measurable results for the business. This is the team for you if you care deeply about business traction and doing meaningful work as a technology lawyer. The team is composed of various backgrounds, including enterprise technology, business & startups, regulatory and telecom, but we all share a common thread: passion for Zoom’s product and loyalty to our mission.

About the Role

We seek a Product Counsel to work closely with our infrastructure operations and procurement teams to manage, negotiate and close our infrastructure vendor contracts. This work is dynamic, fast-moving, highly cross-functional, and critical to the foundation of our products and services. In addition, this role may also support the negotiation of contracts in our partner ecosystem. You'll report to the Senior Managing Counsel, Product Legal, and work closely with our Procurement, Commercial Legal and Infrastructure Operations teams.

The successful candidate will be a mature self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This person needs to be able to resolve issues within a short period of time for multiple stakeholders. This person will be intellectually curious, intuitive, trustworthy, and have the highest ethical standards. In addition, this person will be effective addressing internal and external audiences in a professional manner. This person will add value by working on simultaneous tasks with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through.

You will:

  • Draft and negotiate complex cross-border contracts involving data centers, connectivity, and telecommunications.

  • Contribute to developing and managing process workflows and work product best practices (version controls, repositories, etc.) for infrastructure vendor contracts, all to ensure successful day-to-day execution.

  • Create and support the organizational calendar, meetings and check-points, partnering with the product manager, addressing action items and driving to closure both for internal stakeholders and external counter-parties.

  • Create processes and workflows around contract status reporting and upward reporting.

  • Collaborate across multiple internal business partners to ensure the quality of deliverables.

You bring:

  • 6+ years of relevant combined legal experience at innovative technology companies and technology-focused law firms, focused on complex enterprise vendor contract drafting and negotiation involving data centers, connectivity, technology infrastructure and/or telecommunications.

  • 3+ years in B2B / B2C Communications, Collaboration, UCaaS, or CCaaS Industries;

  • experience in telecom law and/or working with telecommunication carriers;

  • A strong sense of ownership, inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrated sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

  • Ability to understand the larger picture and environment while operating in a focused manner (the antithesis of ‘over-lawyering’).

  • Outstanding time management skills.

  • Broad understanding of technology products and business operations.

  • Excellent communication skills, including strong listening skills and an ability to speak as well as write clearly, concisely, and compellingly.

  • Data driven, system savvy (you have experience working with Jira, Airtable, Confluence, Excel, etc.).

  • Always focused on doing what's right for the business.

  • Willing to take on the tough projects and challenges to support growth of the business.

  • Ability to be highly productive with minimal oversight from management.

  • Takes responsibility and accountability for actions and outcomes.

  • Highly organized, both in thought, approach, and in written work product.

  • Highly adaptable and flexible – you are not stuck in your ways, but rather are comfortable with jumping into undefined programs and you are able to bring structure and results.

  • Ability to multi-task & prioritize.

  • a business-oriented mindset;

  • a “team first”, ego-free attitude;

  • a “roll-up-your-sleeves, get-it-done” orientation;

  • a working style of velocity, efficiency and minimalism; and

  • a detailed oriented fast learner, able to move quickly while keeping focused workflows.

We are also keenly interested in candidates with backgrounds in any of the following:

  • prior experience with an enterprise product-driven company.

  • prior experience in complex commercial litigation (breach of contract).

  • prior experience with ISV and/or channel programs in the SaaS industry.
