Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Hospitality Supervisor to oversee xAI’s food and beverage operations, including café services, breakroom amenities, and catering for events. This role involves managing a team of hospitality staff (e.g., baristas, kitchen support), ensuring high-quality customer service, and maintaining food safety standards. The Hospitality Supervisor will collaborate with the Chef and Barista Supervisor to deliver exceptional dining experiences that enhance productivity in our fast-paced, high-tech environment. This position requires leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace atmosphere.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily operations of the office café, breakroom hydration stations, and food vendor services, ensuring seamless front-of-house meal delivery
- Coordinate catering for meetings, events, and special occasions, both onsite and offsite, in collaboration with the Chef
- Develop and implement customer service strategies and training programs to maintain high standards of hospitality
- Manage a team of 5+ staff, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development
- Enforce food safety practices, ensuring compliance with California health regulations and xAI standards
- Set and uphold customer service principles, engaging with employees to gather feedback and improve offerings
- Monitor and motivate staff to meet time and quality standards, assigning responsibilities and fostering effective communication
- Support menu planning and communications, including updating menu boards and digital displays
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective supply chains
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports to support growth and address performance
- Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling, payroll, sales data reporting, and budget tracking
- Support the conceptualization and implementation of new hospitality services to enhance the employee experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 6+ years of experience in food and beverage or hospitality operations
- 2+ years of leadership experience in a supervisory role
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 8+ years of food service experience, including roles in corporate dining, casual restaurants, or coffee operations
- 2+ years of experience as a restaurant general manager or similar leadership role
- Experience opening new food service operations or developing operational procedures
- Advanced knowledge of customer service, food safety, and kitchen operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Outlook) for administrative tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of food service systems, inventory management, and ordering processes
- Experience in a high-tech or corporate environment
- Ability to work under pressure with strong time management and problem-solving skills
- Acute attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
- Experience managing high-volume or multi-facility food service operations
- Knowledge of human resources management practices for staff development
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to carry large heavy items unassisted (up to 25 lbs.)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time – up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects
- Must have or be able to attain Manager-level food safety certification (e.g., CA Food Handler Card or ServSafe Manager equivalent)
- Must participate in xAI’s internal leadership and development training
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
- Pay Range: $185,000 - $265,000 per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
