xAI is seeking a full-time Protective Intelligence Lead to work on xAI’s Protective Intelligence Team, within Corporate Security. This position will focus on identifying and assessing threats to xAI’s most valuable assets and will assist Corporate Security in addressing a high volume of concerns in a rapidly changing threat environment. This position is ideal for a motivated self-starter who is eager to serve in a role that fuses Investigations, research, and analysis. This role will interface with Legal, HR, Compliance, Safety, Public Policy, Insider Risk teams, and external industry partners.

This role requires established open source investigations and research skills as well as strong analytic writing and briefing skills. The ideal candidate must be able to synthesize complex information from various sources, and convey risk and analytical assessment data in an easy-to-understand manner.

Responsibilities

  • Build capacity to integrate PI initiatives into other aspects of the company, including: employee hiring and on-boarding, visitor management, vendor and contractor management tools
  • Build an insider threat program utilizing a wide array of software tools; establish a strong working relationship with HR and cyber security to continuously improve employee background checks at time of hire and periodically in a risk driven framework
  • Monitor and triage potentially threatening communications identified by social listening tools and from other sources.
  • Conduct research, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, reach conclusions, and make recommendations on investigative cases.
  • Utilize commercial databases and open source investigative tools.
  • Assess validity and capability of risks and triage based on solid prioritization skills and the fundamentals of targeted violence.
  • Synthesize investigative data and findings with general trend research to provide threat/risk context for stakeholders.
  • Draft, design, and disseminate professionally written products to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with key stakeholders at all levels of the company.
  • Assist with or drive various other forms of physical security risk assessments (e.g. travel risk, crime risk, etc.)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Data Science, Security Management, Business, Economics, Finance, or experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years conducting online and open source investigations, security analysis, or investigations; formal training preferred (e.g., Certified Threat Manager (ATAP CTM)

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Experience with social listening and monitoring tools.
  • Experience creating and refining advanced boolean search queries.
  • Ability to adapt to a unique corporate culture and effectively balance security/safety with company values.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Excel, MISP, Navigator, and Splunk.
  • Ability to understand global geopolitical and social issues and threats to/from different regions of the world.
  • Motivated self-starter who is eager to learn new security disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Additional Requirements

  • Position is subject to pre-employment and annual drug and alcohol testing
  • Available to work evenings and weekends, as needed; flexibility is required
  • Willing to travel as needed (up to 10%)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at xAI.
