The Bot Company

We're a lean, multidisciplinary team of engineers building the future of home robotics.

Our mission is to automate mundane tasks and give people back their time to focus on what they love.

We work across the stack with a culture built for rapid iteration and fast execution.

What we look for in all candidates

All roles at The Bot Company demand extreme sharpness and the ability to move fast in high-intensity environments. Throughout the process, we expect candidates to demonstrate:

  • Exceptional mental acuity: you think quickly, learn instantly, and reason across unfamiliar domains.

  • Engineering curiosity: you naturally dig into how systems work, even outside your specialty.

  • High performance mindset: you move fast, handle ambiguity, and excel when the environment is demanding.

Electrical Engineer — Motor Control

You’ll design the motor-control electronics that drive precision motion in our robots. This includes BLDC motor controllers, sensing circuits, protection paths, and the high-frequency power electronics needed for efficient FOC-based control.

Qualifications

  • Ability to design BLDC motor controllers end-to-end, from schematics and layout to prototyping and validation.

  • Skilled in selecting and designing MOSFETs, gate drivers, and e-fuses for high-efficiency motor systems.

  • Experience designing regenerative clamps, snubbers, and transient suppression for high-energy return conditions.

  • Expertise in precision current/voltage sensing (shunt, Hall, isolated amps, ADC interfaces) for FOC.

  • Experience integrating and qualifying encoders, resolvers, or Hall sensors, including signal conditioning and filtering.

  • Ability to design and validate high-frequency gate-drive layouts optimized for efficiency, low noise, and EMI compliance.

  • Comfortable collaborating with control engineers on firmware alignment (PWM timing, control loops, protection logic).

  • Strong grasp of thermal and mechanical considerations for high-density motor power electronics.

  • Hands-on experience with bring-up, testing, and debugging under dynamic load conditions.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and validate compact, efficient BLDC motor-control boards for robotic motion from start to finish, including schematic capture, PCB layout, part selection and vendor communication.

  • Implement robust sensing paths and protection circuits for high-performance FOC control.

  • Optimize high-frequency gate drive, layout, and thermal performance.

  • Bring up prototypes, analyze performance, and iterate quickly under real-world load cases.

  • Collaborate closely with firmware and mechanical teams to integrate motor-control systems seamlessly into the robot.

  • Move quickly and independently to deliver reliable motion-control hardware.

Why Join

You’ll work with a small, elite team on challenges that require speed, intelligence, and deep engineering instinct. If you enjoy understanding systems at all levels, move fast, and think even faster, you’ll thrive here.
