About Copper

Copper is a rapidly growing consumer rewards company on a mission to make earning money universally accessible, engaging, and rewarding. We’ve topped the App Store charts at #16 and raised over $42M from tier-one investors.

We’re building a platform where millions of users can earn through fun, interactive digital experiences — combining rewards, technology, and consumer engagement at scale.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Copper, you’ll help build and scale the technology behind our platform. You’ll work across the stack, own meaningful features, and partner closely with Product, Data, and Operations to create reliable consumer experiences used by millions of people.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment, enjoys solving challenging problems, and wants ownership beyond writing code — from technical design and implementation through launch, monitoring, and iteration.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to important product decisions, solve complex technical problems, and help shape the systems that power Copper as we continue to scale.

Why Copper

At Copper, engineers have the opportunity to build consumer products used by millions of people while solving interesting challenges around engagement, personalization, rewards, and scale.

You’ll join a small, high-impact team where engineers own meaningful work, move quickly from idea to launch, and see the direct results of what they build. If you’re excited about consumer mobile experiences, growth-driven products, and building technology that creates real value for users, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the development of product features from concept through production release.
  • Translate product and business goals into clear technical solutions.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, edge cases, and implementation tradeoffs early.
  • Partner directly with product stakeholders to refine requirements and create practical execution plans.
  • Build across the stack, including mobile experiences, backend services, APIs, databases, and integrations.
  • Develop reliable, scalable systems that support Copper’s users and internal teams.
  • Own production readiness, including rollout strategy, validation, observability, and ongoing improvements.
  • Monitor production systems using logs, metrics, dashboards, and analytics tools.
  • Debug and resolve issues across mobile, backend, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices around code quality, reliability, testing, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with other engineers through technical discussions, code reviews, and planning.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with React Native, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Experience building full-stack products, including frontend/mobile applications, backend services, APIs, databases, and production systems.
  • Understanding of AWS and modern cloud-based application infrastructure.
  • Experience contributing across the full software development lifecycle — design, development, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, mobile release processes, and modern engineering workflows.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and drive projects forward.
  • Strong debugging skills across complex applications and production environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • High ownership mindset with curiosity, initiative, and a bias toward action.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building consumer mobile products at scale.
  • Experience in rewards, gaming, marketplaces, consumer apps, growth platforms, or other high-engagement consumer products.
  • Startup experience or experience working in environments where engineers have broad product and technical ownership.
  • Experience collaborating closely with design teams and building from Figma workflows.
  • Ability to use data and analytics to evaluate feature performance, debug issues, and inform product decisions.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first few months, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Copper’s product, users, and technical architecture.
  • Independently own and ship meaningful features into production.
  • Turn early ideas and business needs into thoughtful technical solutions.
  • Build systems that are reliable, observable, scalable, and easy to maintain.
  • Collaborate effectively across Product, Data, Operations, and Engineering.
  • Improve existing systems while helping build what comes next.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering culture through thoughtful technical decisions, quality execution, and ownership.
